Duplex Sonography of the Arm Veins

Duplex Sonography of the Arm Veins

Sonographic examination of the shoulder/arm veins is useful when, for instance, there is swelling of only one of your arms as is the case in thrombosis or before and after implantation of a pacemaker, defibrillator, port or prior to installation of a shunt when a dialysis is planned. Just as in the case of peripheral veins, we can display blood circulation, among other things, and rule out any blockages in the veins (thrombosis).
